This was a commission for the Padilla family in 2020.08.20. “Ascension. 24x64 . Acrylic, pen, and 23ct. gold. Originally, I was going to paint it on the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem, but Covid cancelled the trip. This was one of the last images I painted for a series the Craig and Wendy Padilla commissioned (friends from Threshold Church). The image was remixed into a tribute to Craig during a live painting during his “celebration of life” service. This image show the apostle Paul’s vision of the “Third” heaven: the first heavens as earth where the marveling disciples are left behind, the second heaven where the ascending Jesus passes between the angelic and demonic realms displayed as classic star constellations, and finally the third heaven where God the Father sits enthroned.
