Since the first service the Gillette family joined Threshold Church at the Brace YMCA in 2017, they have been welcomed to serve with their artistic gifts in the services. In an act of incredible generosity and trust, pastor Jeff Gardner invited Bryn to paint live on stage and then give the benediction via an explanation of his artwork at the end of the very first service they attended (see “Authority” below). Interim pastor Dorington Little (who just happened to be Bryn’s pastor in college in MA) and the current pastor Gabe Swing have continued to make space for Bryn to paint, his wife Kirsten to worship lead, and their children to serve along with the youth. This vibrant spiritual community has been the bedrock of relationship for the Gillette family in NC, and so many of Bryn’s artistic works since 2017 have either been done live at the church or have grown out from the friendships and opportunities generated by these dear siblings in Christ.
