2024.06.09 Cinque Terre 4 Manarola Waking Dream. 11x15 Watercolor on location. This image was actually part of a puzzle I had completed years earlier… and sitting to paint this live was like stepping physically into a memory or a dream. I was absolutely ecstatic as I put on headphone to paint this larger watercolor painting for an hour… trying to ignore the constant stream of tourists who walked by asking for pictures or to talk to me. I’m usually excited to talk and share, but this time I was in a sacred moment, and their repeated and shallow inquiries grew quickly to be a distraction. Later in the trip, I walked down the hill again and stood on the rock in the bay… literally and prophetically “jumping into” the image.
